Meeting place

Entumoto means “meeting place” in the local language Maa. Inside the camp the plains meet the hills, the natural water springs from the ground, wildlife and people share this hidden valley that overlooks the majestic landscape of the Masai Mara.

Entumoto is a personal, luxury tented camp that offers the best in personal attention, discreet service and a first rate cuisine that caters for everyone’s needs with fresh vegetables grown right here at the camp. More importantly is Entumoto’s safari experiences from specially designed open Land-Cruisers or escorted on foot in the hilly surroundings.

The founder, Karl von Heland, is the grandson of Erik von Heland. Erik was a young Swedish officer who traveled to Kenya in search of adventure after WW1. He became the manager of Karen Farm in 1919. The now world-famous farm belonged to the author Karen Blixen and her husband Bror von Blixen-Finecke and was the scene of the film “Out of Africa”.

Karl was looking for his dream-project in East Africa for many years. before he found Entumoto together with Rimoine Ole Kararei. Rimoine comes from a nearby Maasai family but has worked and studied in Nairobi where he lived for many years as a close friend and aide to Karl’s relative the late diplomat Kjell Nordenskiöld. With time five more Swedish family-friends of Karl have joined in making the project come true and are now together with Karl and Rimoine, co-owners of Entumoto. Common to all of the owners is a strong passion for life and nature in Kenya, and more than anywhere else, for Masai Mara.
One becomes acutely aware that this is a world heritage reserve without equal, and should be carefully protected.

Location

Entumoto Private Safari Camp stands elevated in the hills of the Megwarra escarpment, commanding breathtaking views and sunsets over the Mara plains. We are part of the Siana conservancy, on the border of the Masai Mara reserve, between the park gates Oloolaimutia and Sekenani.
Entumoto is an intimate, exclusive tented camp, designed to provide for your total comfort and the incredible sensation of being a part of this great

African wilderness – the open sky, the sounds and smells of the bush and its wildlife – in high security, day and night, provided by Maasai warriors, askaris and armed rangers.
The excitement of being in the heart of Africa. No fences and open to the far horizons – isolated space!
The sheer beauty of the experience, waking up in the early African morning, the sound of the birds calling, dew sparkling on the grass and the typical smell of wood smoke on the air cleanses your very soul. After the often spectacular sunset, night falls and the sky, free from light pollution, shines with the starlight of millions of visible stars and the Milky Way.
You will experience this in a way you’ll never forget.

Luxury Accommodation

The tents, made of a multilayered canvas, are custom designed and set a hundred meters apart from each other for your privacy.
We offer 4 family tented suites, comprising two double or twin rooms, each with en-suite bathrooms and a central lounge with fireplace, comfortably furnished including two divans which could double as beds – in all, ideal for a family, although four adults and four children could be comfortably accommodated.
